Cost Justification
One of the first things a good voice and data provider should ask you is "how is
your voice and data systems connected to the outside world?" A great voice and data
provider takes a global approach to telecommunications, assuring you have the right
connectivity for your voice and data system. For example, some bad companies will
sell a system and also sell too many connections for dial tone. Why? Because they
get paid commission for each connection they sell.
It is important that your voice and data provider do an audit on how your companies
are connected to the world. Due to the recent advent of VoIP, SIP Trunking and the
competition these technologies have forced, it is very feasible that your provider
can save you at least 10% on your current connectivity cost. Imagine if you are
spending $1000 a month on connectivity your provider should be able to save you
$100 a month after an audit. This money can then be applied towards the cost of
the system. This is a standard practice for a good voice and data provider. If your
voice and data provider doesn't ask about your connectivity, that should raise a
big red flag.
It is also important that our provider have a relationship with multiple carriers
so they can recommend a carrier that is right for your business. If they only represent
one carrier think twice. Make sure the voice and data provider is in charge of the
relationship with the carrier. You don't want to spend your time dealing with companies
that will keep you on hold for half an hour each time you call. Let the voice and
data provider work things out with the Verizons and SBC's of the world. In our 60
plus years of experience we believe your provider should do this for you for free.
